These city parts are in many ways antithetic, bright colours and lonely dark corners, dirt and garbage next to glamour. When I was there I just walked around, stood still and watched what was happening around me. Back home looking at the pictures, I recognised that many of them were diffused, often there was something between the camera and the captured situation, a window, a handrail, persons seen in reflections. It´s like seeing so many obvious things without knowing what´s behind, being in the middle of life without being part of it. The bright lights and the floating life of Redlight Districts captured in dark black and white tones. |
